Kari launched an Etsy shop. By then,
she had been doing fine art photography
for a while and she eventually added
portrait sessions and weddings to her
repertoire. Often featuring animals
and botanicals, Kari’s art reflects her
love of nature. “My dad was a seventh-
grade biology teacher, so my interest in
nature came through him,” she says,
adding: “I grew up around animals; at
some point, we had a baby pool in our
kitchen with African frogs in it, and we
kept a rescued bird in our spare bed-
room.”
Kari, who currently splits her time
between Maine and Wisconsin, has
managed to create a great balance be-
tween her various projects. “Spring and
summer are the busy seasons for wed-
dings and portraits,” she says. “And in
the winter, I love having the time to sit
down and focus on a new line of [fine
art] work. It allows me to stay motivated
and busy all year long.”
