This holiday season, satisfy any sweet tooth with a
homemade batch of nutty, jam-filled linzer cookies
WHEN I FIRST MOVED to Califor-
nia, the thing I looked forward to
most was bidding good riddance to
the cold winters of the Midwest. My
first year here though, as December
approached, despite the 60-degree
days and sun-lit palm trees, I actually
began pining for snow-laden days.
A decade later, I’ve come to realize
it’s not so much the snow and cold I
miss, but the memories. “Snemories,”
I call them: building snowmen with
crooked carrot noses; the thrill of
catching snowflakes on my tongue;
