Adding vibrant neon hues to traditional holiday decor can result
in a cheerful, modern look. By putting several simple materials to
creative use, you can create a cool effect that’s sure to impress.
Flagging tape, for example, is a non-adhesive tape that the surveying and forestry industries rely on to mark boundaries and trees;
we incorporated it in a sweet and festive garland. Gaffer tape also
takes on an unexpected purpose as a wrapping material. And see
how a small amount of fluorescent gouache—a thick, pigment-heavy paint that produces an opaque, vivid color—ups the ante on
a plain, store-bought wreath. (Feel free to make your own wreath if
